Description
The Department of Chemistry at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, invites applications for a SUNY Empire Innovation Program faculty position in sustainable materials chemistry, as broadly defined, at the level of Associate or Full Professor. Candidates with research interests, in experimental and/or computational chemistry, involving materials for energy conversion and storage, materials that enable sustainable technologies, and/or materials that promote a cleaner environment, are especially encouraged to apply.
This position is supported by SUNY’s Empire Innovation Program that funds the expansion of research excellence in strategic areas through the recruitment of top faculty that are recognized leaders of their fields.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous and federally funded research program, and is expected to be committed to teaching a diverse student body at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to serve the department, university, and discipline.
Applications received by December 1, 2025 will be given priority consideration. The search will continue until the position is filled.

The Department of Chemistry at the University at Buffalo is a vibrant community with a long tradition and strong commitment to excellence in research, service, and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels and building an inclusive environment. Research interests within the Department span the traditional disciplines of chemistry – analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical – as well as the ever-expanding interfaces of chemistry with biology, materials science, engineering, medicine, and physics. We benefit greatly from collaborative affiliations with researchers within the College of Arts and Sciences; the Schools of Engineering, Dental Medicine, Medicine, and Pharmacy; the Roswell Park Cancer Institute; the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute; the Centers of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Materials Informatics; the RENEW Institute; and the Center for Computational Research.
