The opportunity: As the Director, Stop Loss Claims Strategy and Innovation, you will lead an organization focused on enhancing our Stop Loss Claims capabilities and improving the support we provide to our distribution partners. You will have the opportunity to lead a dedicated team that will support the Stop Loss Claims organization with strategic initiatives, process improvements, client support, claims accuracy and technology implementations. This role is key in Sun Life's journey in helping clients achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.
How you will contribute:
In partnership with the AVP, Stop Loss Claims; establish the Stop Loss Claims organization's strategic direction and execute on our strategy with the client at the center of everything we do
Regularly interact with senior leadership, business stakeholders, and clients to influence business solutions and strategy
Identify best practices and lead organizational change initiatives
Promote superior customer service to our internal and external partners while seeking opportunities to increase client satisfaction
Support new claim system development and implementation for Stop Loss
Create and foster a team environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement
Lead complex and strategic initiatives, managing projects in both traditional and agile approaches
Translate strategies into actionable project plans and oversee their execution
Stabilize business processes and produce streamlined documentation, including end-to-end flows cross-functionally
Create an efficient training and development program to ensure we are setting our staff up for success
Proactively identify opportunities for enhancements to processes, procedures, and reporting systems to improve the client experience
Effectively manage a Data Analysis & Innovation team to provide quality reports and promote analysis to drive further improvements within our Stop Loss team
What you will bring with you:
Ability to work with a diverse range of people
Exceptional leadership skills with 5-7 years of experience leading expanded teams within medical stop loss, health insurance, workers compensation or related industry
5+ years of Stop Loss product exposure and claim administration experience
Bachelor's degree preferred
Stop Loss Claims expert with demonstrated experience managing multiple teams and functions
Proven success leading organizational change and strategic initiatives
Superior ability to interface and build relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
Well-developed communication skills, including an ability to articulate our strategic direction and key points of differentiation externally
Foster strong relationships based on trust, open and honest dialogue
Strong business acumen
Thorough working knowledge of Sun Life Stop Loss Claims philosophy and market trends
Experience with project management and change management methodologies
Superior collaboration skills
Demonstrates resilience by reacting positively to changes and maintains poise, focus and flexibility when encountering difficulties or obstacles
Demonstrated ability to develop and present material to senior leaders that translates complex scenarios into simple observations, recommendations, and decision-making opportunities
Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Visio and/or Project Office
Salary:Â Â
$130,600-$195,900

Your actual base salary will be determined based on your unique skills, qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location. In addition to your base salary, this position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award based on your individual performance as well as the overall performance of the business.
