This role primarily involves providing outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, and families navigating challenges related to a cancer diagnosis. Work Environment
The LCSW will operate in a climate-controlled remote office environment while engaging in daily interactions with school counselors, educators, and other healthcare professionals. This position requires mobility within various school facilities, allowing for a dynamic working atmosphere that fosters collaboration and teamwork. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose the mental health needs of students and their families, utilizing established diagnostic tools such as the DSM-5.
- Develop personalized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based practices aimed at addressing specific patient goals, cultural diversity, and special needs.
- Continually monitor and evaluate patient progress while providing timely interventions to enhance treatment outcomes.
- Document all treatment records, reports, and other clinical information accurately and promptly, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Work collaboratively with patients, families, and other stakeholders to formulate a comprehensive care plan that aligns with the patient's objectives and needs.
- Coordinate referral services to connect patients with necessary treatment options and resources in the broader healthcare community.
- Provide education and mentorship to students, interns, and volunteers, fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in team meetings and clinical supervision that may involve peer reviews, chart audits, and the development of best practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role focuses on providing therapeutic services to individuals and families impacted by cancer, including children and adolescents. The LCSW will address the complex emotional and psychological challenges these patients face, creating a supportive and understanding environment, tailored to their unique experiences and backgrounds.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Evidence of current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Virginia.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate empathically and effectively with diverse populations.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working within school systems or with pediatric populations.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and evidenced-based therapeutic modalities.
- Prior experience supporting families impacted by chronic illness, particularly cancer.
Compensation and Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 90,000 to 105,000 annually, alongside a generous benefits package that includes:
